Rates and the Submission Process
When Editing Iowa receives a manuscript we perform an hour of editing on it and return it to the prospective client along with an estimate of the time that would be required to complete the manuscript. The client then decides whether or not to continue with Editing Iowa. A $50 non-refundable reading fee is charged which is applied to the total fee should we continue the project. We will attend to a client's manuscript as slightly or extensively as the client requests, though we will make specific recommendations if we find that the manuscript requires thorough revision in order to reach the level of quality the client desires. Also, the degree of editing a manuscript requires is determined less by its length than by the quality of the writing itself. Thus, longer texts may sometimes not require as much attention as shorter ones.
In regard to book-length manuscripts and ghostwriting, the fee is subject to negotiation depending on the type of editing, revision or composition necessary.
Editing Iowa tries to be as informal and adaptable as possible. Feel free to ask questions regarding our services or your project or manuscript before submitting it. Also, we are very happy to consider types of writing that may not easily fit into the categories mentioned above.
